Beach & Bartolo has teamed up with Columbia County Current to bring you updates on local happenings. Here on the Beach & Bartolo blog, we will list a sampling of events, things to do, and happenings taking place in and around the county.
The 7th Annual Roe Jan Ramble Bike Tour is Saturday, September 21 through the sponsor towns of Ancram, Copake and Hillsdale. This community event is a non-competitive ride, and perfect for both the casual as well as committed cyclist. The Ramble offers something for everyone, including cyclists looking to enjoy a simple ride with family, or an experienced dedicated cyclist looking for a challenge.
This year there are six routes to choose from (10, 18, 25, 35, 50 miles and the new – 100km or 62.5 miles) on quiet country roads in some of the most beautiful scenery of the Hudson Valley & Taconic foothills you’ve ever seen.
The Ramble is run by volunteers, and the goal is to share the pleasure of riding through our scenic countryside, while raising money to support and extend the Harlem Valley Rail Trailfor bikers, joggers, walkers & everyone.
While the ride is free, donations for the Harlem Valley Rail Trail are encouraged. All funds raised will be used to connect the trail from Copake Falls to Hillsdale, and then continue north. The Rail Trail is a paved bicycle/pedestrian path built on the railbed of the old Harlem Line of the New York Central Railroad.
You MUST wear a helmet to participate in the Ramble. Junior registrants (those under 18 years old) must bring a hardcopy of the registration form, signed by a parent or guardian.
